Parker Fountain Pens
The fountain pen is a staple on executive desks everywhere. The Parker Pen Company the manufacturer of Parker fountain pens was established in 1888. It was founded in Wisconsin. The company has since relocated its national headquarters to England.
Fountain pens were the industry standard before the ball point pen ever hit the market. Parker fountain pens held the patent on a lot of innovations in writing technology. They pioneered the first quick drying ink known as the Quink, which revolutionized the writing world. No longer did you have to worry about blotting when making a document.
Parker fountain pens have been manufactured all over the world. They have been manufactured everywhere from factories in Canada to Europe and South Asia. Parker fountain pens were seen as the must have accessories amongst socialites and entertainers of the time. They were even used to solidify some historic documents during WW11.
Through out our most recent history Parker fountain pens have probably been involved in signing some of the world’s biggest accusations and mergers, and even some of the world’s largest break ups.
The durability, unique design and attention to quality are what set Parker fountain pens apart from the average pen manufacturer. The staff of the original plant in Janesville Wisconsin had an unmatched work ethic.
There have been numerous models of pens rolled out over the years. Some of the most noteworthy are the
- Parker “Jointless” released in 1899
- “Jack Knife Safety” released in 1909
- “Duofold” released 1921
- Parker “classic” released 1967
- Duofold International released 1987
- Parker 100 released 2004
Parker fountain pens have many more models than the ones named but these are some of the most recognized.
In recent years the company has seen a basic abandonment of all of the entry-level consumer market pens. They have been concentrating mainly on the high end professional market. This luxury upscale market probably wants the exclusivity of a pen that not everybody else has. So perhaps this is the reason Parker fountain pens have gone back to this original market.
It’s hard to imagine a world without Parker fountain pens. I know that may sound a bit tasteless but where would we be without calligraphy and the written form. Parker Fountain Pens will always have a place even though we move towards a paperless society and a digital world. There is a certain reassurance when someone pulls a pen from their lapel pocket and signs something for you. Or if you ask somebody to borrow a pen and they loan you one of their Parker fountain pens, you have a nice feeling that you are holding something of quality.
A certain personal element is lost when using pins and keypads to input data instead of a good old fashion pen. Whether it’s a ballpoint or good old-fashioned Parker fountain pen, it will always have a place on my desk, and hopefully yours as well. Some of the most recent Parker Fountain pens are the Duofold, Premier, Sonnet.
